about quality of books in the self - publishing arena; could you break down what you foresee the editor's role will look like in a few years, if you think they will freelance, and whether the world will come back around to trying to guarantee that e-books available for sale will, if nothing else, have proper grammar and sentence structure and punctuation?
Most people have to pay vanity presses to have their books published in print, and there are no guarantees
about the quality of the books, both in terms of content or production.
Otherwise, I can generally make a pretty accurate judgment
about the quality of the book by reading that.

Amazon is clearly trying to keep its reviews objective by weeding out reviews from friends and family who may be more interested in supporting the author than in being honest
about the quality of the book.
The assumption here is that starting to read a book in the middle (on page 99) will give you more information
about the quality of the book and whether you are going to like it or not, than starting at the beginning.
If authors don't care
about the quality of their book cover, it's easy to assume they also didn't care about the quality of their writing.
