School reform has become a regular fixture in public, professional, and academic deliberations
about our nation's
schools.
This year, by far the most lopsided finding in the survey was
about a controversial
reform policy:
school closures.
In a story Feb. 24
about charter
schools, The Associated Press erroneously reported the first name of the director of the Center for Education
Reform at the Washington
Policy Center.
She has published extensively
about school reform and regularly consults with federal, state and local
policy leaders as well as practitioners.
The political argument for involving parents and other community members more substantially carries along with it an explicit challenge to the traditional, hierarchical leadership and power structures in
