My introductory remarks
about sea cucumbers.

about sea cucumbers.

In the meantime, marine divers are now collecting those miniature fish that they already knew
about but never figured were worth anything: shrimp gobies (with their commensal shrimp), crabs that live in the spines of
sea urchins, fish that live in the body cavity of
sea cucumbers and jawfish and garden eels that live in the substrate.

A coral wall slopes down gradually from
about 25 to 80 feet / 8 -24 mt. Sightings here could include lobsters, barracudas, lizardfish, Nassau grouper, angel fish, furry
sea cucumber and lots of other juvenile reef fish.
Having seen no source of perspective in any photos, she had expected
sea cucumbers to be only
about six inches long.

sea cucumbers, brilliant starfish and perhaps a sleepy ray hiding in the sand.
While the brittle star's perks are notable, this is really a story
about the mighty
sea cucumber, who plays host to a whole tiny ecosystem of creatures, notes bioGraphic, «including clams that take up residence in
cucumber throats, fish and crabs that colonize their anuses, and worms and snails that drink their bodily fluids.»
Lab results by the Carnegie group indicate that
sea cucumbers around Australia's Great Barrier Reef could be responsible [because they are so abundant —
about one
sea cucumber per square meter] for
about half of the nighttime CaCO3 breakdown, simply by grazing the coral sands of reef systems.
