Human Rights Watch report3 notes that while its research hasn't found «a pattern
of abuse that could be considered systematic» the rights body «findings raises serious concerns
about abuses by AMISOM4 soldiers against Somali women and girls» with
survivors of sexual exploitation expressing feelings
of «powerless» to fearing «retaliation or retribution, as well as the stigma and shame that the
abuse could bring» and others, despite being engaged in exploitive relationships feared loosing «their only source
of income» (HRW, 2014, September, p. 25).

of sexual assault.
