It's funny that we've been to
about a dozen barbecues this summer, but we haven't had anything that is actually covered in delicious
sweet tangy sticky finger - licking - good BBQ
sauce in ages.
This stir fry of chicken, mushrooms, and a
sweet sauce comes together in
about a half an hour.
This is the type of
sauce that you can be very nonchalant
about what ingredients you add since it covers just
about all bases on the flavor spectrum — tart,
sweet, spicy and salty — the balance is up to you.
For the Caramelized Onion Dipping
Sauce: 1 Tbsp butter 1 medium
sweet onion,
about 1/2 pound, peeled and sliced 2 Tbsp cider vinegar 2 Tbsp honey 1 Tbsp prepared mustard 1/4 cup mayonnaise salt and pepper to taste
There's something
about sweet and sour
sauce that I just can't resist, sorry!
I added
about 1 tablespoon of enchilada
sauce to the
sweet potato nacho
sauce instead of the pepper in adobo (didn't have it) and added a few tablespoons of nutritional yeast for a more «cheesy» flavor.
What I ended up with was a nutritious and
sweet sauce that the kiddos gobbled up and raved
about.
One of my complaints
about jarred
sauce is it tends to be too
sweet.
Everyone will rave
about this salmon
sauce recipe because it brings together pineapple salsa with
sweet and savory spices for a perfectly pan-seared fish dinner.
The slightly tart raspberry
sauce is the perfect complement to the
sweet cornbread, and then there's the sky - high frosting which just... I don't even know what to say
about it.
But there is just something
about it that is so wonderful and amazing in every way that makes it perfect for a sticky
sweet / spicy / salty
sauce.
What I love most
about this dish is that its effortless, fresh, slightly
sweet, slightly spicy, the breading maintains itself even though its only baked, and the
sauce is universal and can be used for a variety of dishes!
If you're concerned
about getting your kids to eat tofu, follow Copley's lead: She marinates the meat substitute in teriyaki
sauce, so it's slightly
sweet, and more to their liking.
The raspberry
sauce is my favorite thing
about these mini cheesecakes because it adds a vibrant color and
sweet fruity flavor.
I'm used to pacing in front of my oven for 30 - 40 painful minutes waiting on
sweet potato fries and in the space of time it would take me to make the dipping
sauce and «taste test» it
about a billion times these babies were done.

The main course was our chicken mole, which fell off the bone and was the perfect combination of

It's all
about nailing the right balance of
sweet and sour in this addictive
sauce (without the corn syrup and scary red food coloring).
Add the
sweet bean
sauce and the vinegar and stir occasionally until the
sauce is hot,
about 5 minutes.
I made the
sauce the day before and was really unsure
about it, but once on the
sweet potatoes it is just right.

Simmer uncovered over low heat until
sweet potatoes are tender,
about 30 minutes, stirring frequently and adding water as needed when the
sauce gets too thick.
Think
about it, Coconut Shrimp, coated in
sweet and crunchy coconut flakes served with a homemade creamy avocado tartar
sauce (which on its own is completely addicting)!
Before we get into the
sauce (which I know is what we're all the most interested in), let's talk
about these
sweet potato noodles.
Thinking more
about it, I imagine you could use the
sauce / marinade to roast any number of ingredients beyond winter squash or
sweet potatoes - for ex: tempeh, broccoli, cauliflower.
But what you may not know
about the
sweet potato is that it makes the most delicious (and wholesome) pasta
sauce.
The filling is made by melting 1 stick of butter (
about 1/2 cup) in a medium - sized
sauce pan with 3/4 cup coconut sugar, the
sweet potatoes, the coconut milk (which does NOT add a coconut flavor) and the spices.
for the soup: 2 leeks coconut oil 1 kg
sweet potatoes (
about 4) a thumb - size piece of fresh ginger 1 tbsp vegetable stock powder, or 1/2 a stock cube 1 tbsp soy
sauce or tamari 1 tbsp maple syrup 1 tbsp peanut butter

sweet, and tangy all at once and can be used on just
about anything, from scrambled eggs to sauteed vegetables.

sweeter and juicier than traditional umeboshi), and season generously with toasted black and white sesame seeds and soy
sauce to taste.
Add the crunch and beautiful colour of purple cabbage and carrots, almond pesto and
sweet and spicy dipping
sauce, and you'll get just
about the perfect summer meal.
