Today marks the beginning of National
School Choice Week (NSCW), a week designed to raise public awareness
about all types of effective education
options for children, including traditional and charter public
schools,
magnet, private, online and homeschools.
The district's unified enrollment system that parents used for the first time this year to apply to
magnets and other district
options did not contain information
about student academics, but it did contain other information
about the
schools like what after -
school activities are offered, if Advanced Placement classes are available, and notable alumni.
