I just wrote
about toddler tantrums the other day.
Today we're sharing some expert advice
about toddler tantrums: when to worry.

In fact, the other night, he was VERY upset
about having to wash his hands before dinner (much like keeping socks on, it's akin to torture) and in the middle of a whiny
toddler temper
tantrum, he managed to eek out «QUESADILLA!!»
And no, I'm not talking
about your

tantrum at bedtime.
Some
toddlers throw temper
tantrums less out of frustration
about problem - solving matters and more out of an effort to get you to do what they want.
For parents, having a
toddler means learning
about essentials such as first steps,

toddler games, and how to bond.
Most
toddlers go through the «
tantrums in the supermarket» stage at
about 2 1/2 years, some as early as 18 months, some much later.
From packing your hospital bag, to how to breastfeed, to putting your baby on a sleep schedule, handling
toddler tantrums and potty training, and talking to you kids
about popularity and bullying, to — ah!
When your
toddler or child is in the middle of a
tantrum or meltdown, they are not in a mental state to absorb what you're saying or have a conversation
about finding a solution.
I needed to know what he knew

tantrums and making them less frequent.

I would know, because our third child is a Perfect Baby and right now she is upstairs throwing an Exorcist - worthy fit that made me start thinking
about tantrums and what having three very different
toddlers has taught me
about them over the years.
To consistently express the nurturing and attentive love that Attachment Parenting is all
about is no easy task when you're out of your mind sleep - deprived, weary of
toddler tantrums and stretched to your capacity to care for your family, your house, your work, and maybe — if you're lucky — yourself.

As much as we accept that
tantrums are part and parcel of life with a
toddler, we need to have a plan in place to help calm them down, especially when you are out and
about.
If your
toddler is throwing a
tantrum because she wants ice cream on her waffles and you are adamant
about no ice cream at breakfast then let her know that you understand how she feels without belittlement or judgment.
Especially as it comes at a time when you're pregnant and exhausted and have a baby on board and a most likely a
toddler in tow and are coping with
tantrums and potty training and everything else as well as growing a baby and you just want to have a nap but can't because as a second - time pregnant woman as there's a child to keep alive and snacks to fetch and things to carry so many things to do and you can't quite imagine what it's going to be like with two children when you're only just
about holding it together with one.
In our ToddlerCalming workshop we talk a lot
about all of these issues and more and give lots of suggestions on how parents can cope with (and reduce)
toddler tantrums — each child and each family is so unique, one size does not fit all.
The best way to avoid these
toddler tantrums is to be consistent in bed time but allow the child to make choices
about the rituals.
I would much prefer to hear
about other parents who are managing well with their deranged
toddlers, I would find solace in knowing that someone out there managed not to cry, yell or hide in the bathroom when their
toddler threw a 45 - minute
tantrum about not being able to make a drawing in the paper they wanted (red!
