An annual recipe contest at a Minnesota elementary school gets students excited
about trying new foods.
At the child care centers, children participated in 30 - minute nutrition education classes
about trying new foods, eating a variety of vegetables and fruit, using healthier diary products, and eating healthier snacks.

Trying new food is probably my favorite part
about travelling, and it's one of the strongest ways in which I connect to
new cultures.
I love
trying new foods and I've been curious
about the
new pastas.
* I've been wanting to
try it for a while, and now that I am finished all of my classes (WOOO) I have the time to think
about new and exciting
food things.
Since I am always on the lookout for
new, healthy
foods to incorporate into my family's diet, it was
about time that we
tried adzuki beans.
I am more relaxed and realistic
about what she consumes now, because I can't always control where we are — she has predominately home made
food, but when we are out she will have bits of whatever we are eating, and it's fun to watch her
try new things!

If you're concerned
about allergies or your baby ingesting coconut oil, or other products, make sure to always speak with your doctor or lactation consultant before
trying new foods.
Try not to get too excited
about introducing a certain
new food (and spend a few days thinking of all the
new things you can make if that
food passes), because if that
food fails, you will be devastated.
If you can think
about mealtime moreso as family bonding time than «get my kid to eat time», your child won't feel as pressured and will be more open to
trying new or previously rejected
foods.
How we handle it: Just as negative comments
about food are not allowed, we
try to promote a positive attitude
about new foods by presenting them in manageable (one bite) amounts and giving the expectation that they will learn to enjoy all
foods one day.
