There has been a bit of controversy
about unassisted childbirth after Janet Fraser, the
birth activist who coined the term «
birth rape», gave
birth to a baby girl who died.

about natural

unassisted birthing in order to be prepared (I highly recommend Sheila Kitzinger and Ina May Gaskin).
I read
about everything from the highly medicated «twilight
births» that were popular at the beginning of the century to «
unassisted births» which were gaining popularity in the last few years (
unassisted birth is basically the mother / father and her chosen team delivering at home without the assistance of a trained professional like a doctor or midwife).
