about world hunger, including how many people in the world are starving and how many are dying every day.

In the midst of grave concern
about nuclear war,
world hunger and rising racism, are we justified in giving so much time and effort to suicide?
If you want to really help poor people around the
world, if you care
about mankind in general, solving the problem of
hunger, raising the wellfare of all of us that are not just the ultra rich, then you should go in the opposite direction of supporting ANY republican candidate.
[Here I must cite Ronald Sider's groundbreaking book, «Rich Christians in an Age of
Hunger,» which absolutely changed how I thought
about myself, materialism, the poor, and the
world.
If we simply kill a hundred possible terrorists in Afghanistan and do little
about the swamp of poverty,
hunger, despair and political disarray in that country and elsewhere in the Third
World, we will fail to «dry out the breeding ground of terrorists.»
And what
about the situation of poverty and
hunger in the
world today?
Even if you don't believe in God, can't you take a moment once a day before you start shoveling food in your piehole to reflect on how great your life is and think
about the other 90 percent of the
world who face
hunger every day?
They can feel sincere but detached sympathy, can send money for
world hunger projects, write to governments about human rights violations, boycott multinational corporations which exploit Third World people all without necessarily experiencing disruption in their own l

Third, in view of scattered signs among some evangelicals of an awakening concern

hunger for a better, more just
world?
What is wrong with having faith that this crummy
world cant be all there is for the very reasons you complain
about, death, famine,
hunger, evil, pain, anguish, and suffering?

A gifted child may be able to participate in adult conversations
about issues such as global warming or
world hunger one minute and the next minute cry and whine because a sibling took a favorite toy.
The real tragedy is that the debate
about biotechnology is diverting attention from solving the problem of
world hunger.
And I am not saying that the following video is going to bring
about world peace or end
hunger.
The ending can be faulted for telling
about some things that should have been shown, but it's intriguing — and will of course build audience appetites for the last installment in the series, the which will be broken into two films — to wonder what's happening in the
world outside the
Hunger Games arena as Things spin madly out of control.
