There is a lot of confusion
about yams and sweet potatoes in the United States.
But, interestingly enough, I've also been receiving quite a few questions
about yams vs. sweet potatoes from readers, so I thought maybe this short post might help clarify a bit.

I've been reading a lot
about the importance of eating starchy tubers and
yams as post workout meal to replenish the depleted muscle glycogen.

Another big misconception I often hear
about is that sweet potatoes are synonymous with
yams, but that's actually incorrect.
Sweet potatoes and
yams are not nightshades, therefore you do not need to worry
about unwanted health threats.
Just remove the root veges (
yams, potatoes) and don't worry
about any of the others including the carrot / tomato juice — though you should not be drinking copious amounts of either all day long.
This means that I typically eat
about 100 - 200g of carbs from sources such as sweet potato,
yam, taro, slow - fermented sourdough bread, berries, soaked and rinsed quinoa, amaranth, millet, etc. — along with a touch of dark chocolate and red wine.
