In 2014, we expect to see major improvements
in absolute color accuracy resulting from the use of quantum dots as well as from improved color - management processing.
In particular, for implementing Color Management to provide multiple Color Gamuts, and then using the Color Management to provide the
Highest Absolute Color Accuracy for Standard (sRGB / Rec.709) consumer content of any Tablet display that we have ever measured (in one of its four available screen modes, which many reviewers seem to overlook).

· The Highest
Absolute Color Accuracy of any display we have ever tested, 0.9 JNCD (from Smartphones to TVs) based on our extensive Lab Measurements, which is Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.
Our detailed lab tests show that there have been significant display performance improvements in the new Note models including higher resolution, higher
absolute color accuracy with better calibration, higher peak brightness with improved screen visibility and readability in high ambient light, and higher display power efficiency, resulting in a number of new records for smartphone display performance.
There are many other applications that require or would benefit from much
better Absolute Color Accuracy, such as in sales and marketing presentations, and especially in medical imaging, where it can improve diagnostic accuracy for doctors, hospitals and patients.
The Galaxy Note 5 Basic screen mode has the most accurate display colors for reproducing all standard consumer content (sRGB / Rec.709) of any Smartphone or Tablet display that we have ever tested, with a
measured Absolute Color Accuracy of 1.4 JNCD, which is visually indistinguishable from perfect, and is very likely considerably better than your living room TV.
Figure 2 below shows
absolute color accuracy plots for the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 and Google Nexus 7, and Figure 3 below clearly shows the much larger color errors for the Apple iPad mini Retina Display.
On the other hand, for the iPad mini 3, the much smaller 62 percent Color Gamut resulted in a much higher error of 6.8 JNCD going up as high as 22.6 JNCD, which resulted in a Good to Poor
Absolute Color Accuracy rating.
The smaller Color Gamuts on both the Surface 2 and Lumia 2520 were quite noticeable in the Viewing Tests, which consisted side - by - side comparisons of a large selection of challenging photos with a calibrated display that has essentially
perfect Absolute Color Accuracy and Image Contrast.
The Average
Absolute Color Accuracy over the entire Color Gamut is an Excellent 1.9 JNCD, which is typically visually indistinguishable from perfect.
Absolute Color Accuracy Error Plots Figure 2b below shows the measured on - screen colors for the 21 Reference Colors as displayed on the Kindle Fire HDX 7 and new Nexus 7.
The iPhone X excels due to its
record Absolute Color Accuracy (1.0 JNCD), which is Visually Indistinguishable from Perfect, and is very likely considerably better than any mobile display, monitor, TV or UHD TV that you have.
The iPad Air 2 has noticeably
lower Absolute Color Accuracy with Average / Maximum Color Errors of 3.9 and 8.8 JNCD, which are visually noticeable and could be unacceptable for some color critical applications (like medical imaging, high - end digital photography, product sales demonstrations, and advertising proofs, for example)

According to DisplayMate's findings, the Galaxy S9 lineup has the highest
absolute color accuracy of any handset ever, with its Super AMOLED QHD + panels delivering colors that are indistinguishable from perfect to the unaided eye.
Both are Excellent Top Tier Tablets, however, the Surface Pro 3 is more accurately calibrated than the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, with the
best Absolute Color Accuracy that we have ever measured, so it scores higher in overall display performance.
In our detailed Lab tests the measured
Absolute Color Accuracy for the for the iPad Air is 3.8 JNCD, which falls into our Good (rather than Very Good) Color Accuracy rating.
While the iPad Air 2 has an all around Very Good Top Tier display, and most buyers will be happy with its performance, the displays on the Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Samsung Tablets that we have tested (see below) have better display performance
in Absolute Color Accuracy, Brightness, Contrast Ratio, Viewing Angle, and Power Efficiency.
For all of the calibrated Screen Modes, the Galaxy Note8 has uniformly Very Good to
Excellent Absolute Color Accuracy, which are covered and measured individually below.
In order to produce
high Absolute Color Accuracy a display also needs an accurate (pure logarithmic power - law) Intensity Scale, and an accurate White Point.
Figure 2 has
Absolute Color Accuracy plots for the Kindle Fire HDX 7 and Google Nexus 7, and also clearly shows the much larger Color Errors for the Apple iPad mini Retina Display.
Delivering great color with high
Absolute Color Accuracy is incredibly difficult because everything on the display has to be done just right.
Highest
Absolute Color Accuracy for any display for Both Color Gamuts (1.35 JNCD), Lowest Screen Reflectance for any mobile display (1.7 percent), Highest Peak Brightness in a full size Tablet for any Picture Level (511 nits), Highest Contrast Rating in High Ambient light (301), and Smallest Color variation with Viewing Angle (all under 2.0 JNCD).
While the iPad Air 2 has an all around Very Good Top Tier display, and most buyers will be happy with its performance, the displays on the Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Samsung Tablets that we have tested (see below) have better display performance in
Absolute Color Accuracy, Brightness, Contrast Ratio, Viewing Angle, and Power Efficiency.
For the Galaxy S5, Samsung has instead concentrated on improving the Maximum Brightness, Screen Reflectance, performance in High Ambient Light,
Absolute Color Accuracy, Viewing Angles, display power efficiency, and running time on battery.
, the displays on the Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Samsung Tablets that we have tested (see below) have better display performance in
Absolute Color Accuracy, Brightness, Contrast Ratio, Viewing Angle, and Power Efficiency.
Although its White Point is (intentionally) slightly too Blue,
the Absolute Color Accuracy is mostly Very Good except in the Blue to Magenta regions, which decrease its overall Color Accuracy rating.
The Absolute Color Accuracy for the Surface Pro 3 is an Excellent 2.1 JNCD, the most color accurate display that we have ever measured for a Tablet or Smartphone.
Both are tied for first place with the best
Absolute Color Accuracy that we have ever measured, which is the single most challenging and important performance characteristic for a display.
The Apple iPad Air, which came in second after the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, remains a Very Good Tablet display, however, the Surface Pro 3 is more accurately calibrated than the Apple iPad Air, with the best
Absolute Color Accuracy that we have ever measured.
The Absolute Color Accuracy for the Surface Pro 3 is an Excellent 2.1 JNCD.
Much lower Screen Reflectance — higher Brightness for both tested picture modes — perfect Black Levels — infinite Contrast Ratio — higher Contrast Rating for High Ambient Light — higher
Absolute Color Accuracy (a tie only at 0 degrees)-- more accurate Intensity Scale and Gamma — much better Viewing Angle performance for all tested metrics — very fast Response Time and no Motion Blur — higher display Power Efficiency for TV video content.
In addition, every display performance metric has been improved over the already excellent Surface Pro 3, including the display's Maximum Brightness, Contrast Ratio,
