The Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test (ASSIST) was recently developed for the WHO by an international group
of substance
abuse researchers to screen for problem or risky use
of tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, cocaine,
amphetamine - type stimulants, sedatives, hallucinogens, inhalants, opioids, and «other drugs» that do not fall into the previous nine categories.40 The ASSIST was found to have high internal consistency (α > 0.80), correlated well against similarly worded items
of other questionnaires, and good concurrent validity with a range
of substance use and dependence measures.40
