BCT therapy is based

Not only is childhood physical aggression a precursor of the physical and mental health problems that will be visited
on victims, but also aggressive children themselves are at higher risk of alcohol and drug
abuse, accidents, violent crimes, depression, suicide attempts,

spouse; or any child residing within the party's household (including a child other than the child who is the subject of the custody or visitation proceeding) may be considered as a factor bearing
on the welfare and best interests of the child.
Strategies
on the familial level include helping parents meet their basic needs, identifying problems of substance
abuse and
spouse abuse, and educating parents about child behavior, discipline, safety, and development (Bethea 1999).
