Collins will receive the award, which honors a distinguished
academic librarian who has
made an outstanding contribution as an education and / or behavioral sciences
librarian, at the American Library Association Annual Conference in Anaheim, Calif., on Saturday, June 28.
In defence of LRW instruction in law schools, at least from the point of view of law
librarians, I should point out that we work at universities, and as such we have to
make sure our students know how to do
academic research and writing, as well as how to do practical legal research and writing — something colleagues in the rest of the university libraries do not have to contend with, unless they also work in professional schools.
