academy leaders carried out by the National Foundation for Educational Research.
Although due - diligence tests are
carried out on prospective trustees and
leaders for
academy sponsors, the Department for Education does not
carry out its own checks to ensure that trustees and senior
leaders are «fit and proper persons».
