The EC last week
accepted the nomination forms from presidential and parliamentary nominees, hoping to contest in this year's elections, but failed to accept the filing fees over the PPP's suit.
He explained that, the commission as part of processes in vetting nominees undertakes some processes including
accepting nomination forms as well as filing fees, adding that the EC can only approve a candidate when all processes are met.
On October 10, 2016 the Electoral Commission said it could not
accept the nomination forms of the party's candidate because the number of subscribers on her forms did not meet the requirements of Regulation (2)(b) of CI 94.

The final day for submission of
nomination forms at the Electoral Commission (EC) headquarters has seen a rather bizarre twist with the Commission
accepting the filing fee of the Progressive People's Party's (PPP) Flagbearer despite an interlocutory injunction placed on the process by the PPP itself.
In explaining the NDP Flagbearers disqualification, the EC said it was unable to
accept Nana Konadu's
nomination because the number of subscribers to her
forms did not meet the requirements of Regulation 7 (2)(b) of CI 94.
The court presided over by Justice Eric Kyei Baffour, subsequently ordered the Commission to give the PPP the chance to correct the anomalies on the
nomination forms of its Flagbearer, and subsequently decide whether to
accept him inn the race or not.
However no
nomination will be
accepted with both name and registration number missing from the
nomination form.
