Governor Cuomo's deal with legislative leaders on
expanded access to breast cancer screening falls squarely within three unfortunate Albany traditions: It micromanages the health - care industry in ways that add red tape and drive up costs.
New Yorkers will have
greater access to breast cancer screenings at hospitals and insurance co-payments for all mammograms will be eliminated under an agreement Cuomo and the state Legislature's leaders announced yesterday.
ALBANY, N.Y. — New Yorkers will have greater
access to breast cancer screenings at hospitals and insurance co-payments for all mammograms will be eliminated under an agreement Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the state Legislature's leaders announced Sunday.
In a letter to Assembly and Senate leaders, Andrew Cuomo said he'd like consensus on combatting the heroin epidemic,
increasing access to breast cancer screening and treatment, ethics reform, campaign donation laws and updating the alcohol beverage control law.
Along the way, Cuomo is poised to sign legislation that expands
access to breast cancer screenings.
Lawmakers also passed measures to combat heroin and opioid addiction, expand
access to breast cancer screening and allow bars and restaurants to serve alcohol before noon on Sundays.
