Many elite colleges and universities no longer offer undergraduate teacher preparation programs, and many teacher preparation programs are housed within less selective colleges.5 Nonetheless, the academic profiles of teaching candidates in regional comprehensive universities are high relative
to other programs offered in those schools.6 Furthermore, many teacher preparation programs do not have admission criteria beyond those of their home institution, and only have
access to a pool of candidates already admitted
to the overarching college or university.7
For these reasons among others, the average SAT scores of students going into education have historically been lower than those of their peers entering other
professions, although there is some evidence that this is shifting.8
Unequal
access to opportunities
for developing life skills plays a role in the over-representation of those with independent school backgrounds of the UK's top
professions.
As we think about the ways we can support broadening
access to Austin's opportunity, IDEA Public Schools» (IDEA) new venture
to create a preparatory school
for the health
professions endeavors
to widen and diversify the pipeline of students prepared
to tackle the STEM challenges and systemic understanding of a transforming health system.
These are crucial skills that students will need
to access for future educational endeavors and many
professions in the long run.
The Education Corps is designed
to provide tutoring and after - school support but not necessarily
to train future teachers.92 The VISTA program matches corps members with a nonprofit organization
to perform capacity building and provides yearlong stipends, but it is not intended
for provision of direct services.93 The Professional Corps, which specifies teaching as one of its qualified positions, allows participants
to access Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards — which recipients can use either
for loan forgiveness or
for paying tuition and other qualifying educational expenses — but increases residency program costs because residents are prohibited from receiving stipends through AmeriCorps and must therefore be paid through their program or the school district.94 None of these programs were designed
for supported entry specifically; thus, programs dedicated
to providing a gradual on - ramp
to the teaching
profession can sometimes find it hard
to meet their definitions and requirements.

However, the main criteria was
to incorporate artificial intelligence in the products and demonstrate the benefits of the product towards the legal
profession in the future in terms of speed, efficiency, and increased
access to justice
for everyone.
The
profession is far from settled on having a comprehensive and effective plan
to promote
access to legal services, and we are likely
to hear loud calls
for accountability.
«CanLII's Road Map» described a vision of a «new, original resource, offering free
access to all primary sources of law» that would be «set up
for the benefit of members of the Canadian legal
profession and the Canadian public in general.»
Thus far, the need
for serious restructuring
to our institutional
access to justice mechanisms has driven the legal
profession to consider a multitude of possible solutions that have yet
to prove effective.
Third, and bringing together normative and pragmatic angles, not only has the Canadian legal
profession in general, and many of the provincial self - regulatory organizations more particularly, opened up a policy - making space
for considering how
to reformulate the future of legal services
to improve
access to justice, but also, the provincial self - regulators all have an implicit and, sometimes, as in the case of Ontario, an explicit duty
to facilitate
access to justice in their regulatory activities.
Despite already being touted as a landmark
for the industry, the law firms behind the initiative aimed at improving
access to the
profession are hoping
to substantially expand the number of firms backing the scheme.
All of this also points
to the importance of looking outside the legal
profession for help in trying
to address
access to justice problems.
