I went for a rustier shade rather than my previous choice
of brighter orange, and pulled
out more
of the truer blues to
mix with the teal shades found in so many
of our
accessories.
On the left side
of the bed I pulled
out a wooden bowl / tray I've had for years (similar here), another black and white book I've had (this one) and this vase and this gold star
accessory that I've had as well for the lower shelves, again creating a
mix of materials that work together for a fresh vibe and update to this space.
I'm trying to build up my wardrobe more sensibly after a massive clear -
out made me realise I have a load
of patterned skirts, tops & dresses that I can not
mix and match, so I'm trying to build more
of a neutral capsule wardrobe so I only need to buy
accessories often to feel like I have a load
of new outfits!
While I am not such a big winter lover, I do love this excuse to wear my summer pieces with a jacket, my denims with light layers and bring
out some
of my favourite
accessories to add that
mix of high and low.
How it will all play
out: I narrowed down these 22 pieces
of clothing, 5 pairs
of shoes, and a few
accessories, to
mix and match for June and July and come up with over 40 looks!
An old doorway has been blocked in using weathered wood pallets and creates a corner space for the dining table and chairs.A white - painted dresser has been positioned in a small lobby area that leads
out onto the garden and is filled with the owner's collection
of blue and white china together with shells and driftwood that have been collected from the beach.In the master bedroom, walls, floor and furniture have been painted in pure brilliant white to give the space a light and airy feel, with a
mix of blue and white striped
accessories, patchwork, florals and chambray adding to the coastal theme.The bed has been positioned so that the fabulous view can be enjoyed, while sun streams through the balcony doors and keeps the space warm all year round.
The blend
of colors in the bedding makes it easy to pull
out a few shades to
mix and match and to change the look at a whim with a few switches
of accessories.
The secret to success here is the well thought -
out combination
of tiled walls and whitewashed flooring with the elegant
mix of furniture and
accessories.
