As far as the next - generation device goes, bloggers presume that Kindle 2 will have a joystick instead of a scroll wheel with a button re-design to
prevent accidental page turns.
And this time, Amazon has corrected the foibles of its first - gen Kindle, with its large, outwardly slanting page - turn buttons that led to lots
of accidental page turns.
The images that surfaced of the new Kindle in October are real - it's a longer device but not as thick as the original Kindle, and fixes some of the button issues that plague users (
like accidental page turns).
However, these buttons
make accidental page turns unlikely and therefore allow easier holding of the Kindle when reading.
You press this button inward, toward the screen, whereas with the Kindle 1 (beneath) you're supposed to press outward — hence the frequent,
accidental page turns.
With the new design I haven't had
an accidental page turn yet and I've been using the Kindle quite a bit since I received it a couple weeks ago.
