Gov. Cuomo rejected
accusations that he's somehow to blame for the corruption scandal that led to the resignation
of former New York state Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, claiming that any connection between the two would be like relating the Anthony Weiner
sexting scandal to President Obama.
The
accusations rocked the state and added another chapter to its history
of political sex shockers, including the prostitution scandal that felled Democratic Gov. Eliot Spitzer in 2008 and the serial
sexting that ultimately put former Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner in prison last fall.
(Eric Massa resigned in March 2010 following
accusations of sexually harassing male staffers, Christopher Lee resigned in February 2011 when his sexually charged email exchange with a woman other than his wife was revealed and Anthony Weiner resigned in June 2011 after disclosure
of his
sexting escapades.)
