The new goals of the new development agenda to be adopted
during the UN
summit on September 25, 2015, in New York include ending poverty in all its forms everywhere; ending hunger,
achieving food security, improving nutrition and promoting sustainable agriculture.
During the
summit, the Prime Minister, Opposition Leader, Health Minister, Indigenous Affairs Minister, Indigenous and community representatives signed a Statement of Intent, in which they agreed to work in partnership to
achieve equality in health status and life expectancy between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians by the year 2030.
