The IAEA has categorized four potential nuclear security threats (or, more accurately, nuclear security risks):
the acquisition of nuclear weapons by theft; the creation of nuclear explosive devices using stolen nuclear materials; the use of radioactive sources in radiological dispersal devices (RDDs); and the radiological hazards caused by an attack on, or sabotage of, a facility or a transport vehicle.
There is, truly, no issue that can not be yoked to the unicorns of climate change — not even the world's leading sponsor of terrorism demanding fast relief from the sanctions that delayed
its acquisition of nuclear weapons.
Of the 31 countries that possess nuclear power plants, we have identified five where
the acquisition of nuclear weapons would radically impact relations with their regional neighbors and global powers.
