Furthermore, adults who perceived their daily
social interactions to be more comforting and supportive showed dampened ACC
activation during exclusion (Eisenberger et al. 2007) and young adults who spent more time with friends
during late adolescence showed a similar pattern of reduced ACC and insula activity
during exclusion (Masten et al. 2012).
