Other companies didn't want to stay away from all this, as we saw Sony too jumped into the wearable tech category, announcing the Sony SmartBand, a wristband which would have a Sony Core
tracker device, keeping the log of your fitness and
activity.
The Apple Watch has a brilliant display, provides useful and functional notifications, works well as a GPS sports watch, and is the
activity tracker that
does well at motivating you to perform.
Activity trackers, on the hand,
do something far more compelling.»
Of course, what better way to
do so than getting a new
activity tracker that will help you make the most of your time and get fitter by relying on a wide variety of new technologies?
I called the Fitbit Flex the gateway
activity tracker since it
does the minimal things one needs when tracking daily activiy.
For an
activity tracker, you want something you wear all the time, to track what you are
doing throughout the day.
Where the A370 differs from its predecessor is in its continuous heart - rate tracking, which means the device can
do almost everything the first - gen fitness
tracker couldn't: log your outdoor running mileage and speed, offer heart - rate - based insights on your
activity, and give you a more comprehensive look at your sleep patterns.
For example, the watch lists weightlifting as one of the
activities it can track, but as with past Fitbit
trackers, all Ionic
does while the user
does weight training is track calorie burn and heart rate.
For those after a basic
activity tracker that can be worn with their current wrist - worn devices, the Misfit Ray will
do the job if you can accept you'll need to
do a bit more to achieve your goals.
The Fossil Q Motion
activity and sleep
tracker will be the first to hit markets this summer, while the Q Marshal and Q Wander Android Wear smartwatches still don't have a launch date.
The Fitbit Surge is the perfect
tracker for those that want more than what an
activity tracker provides, but don't want the detail a full - blown sportswatch will offer.
Overall the Fitbit Surge is the perfect watch for those that want those extra features an
activity tracker typically doesn't provide, such as GPS and heart - rate monitoring, in a device that is easy to use and understand.
However, we aren't convinced it quite hits the mark as the «ultimate fitness superwatch» - but it
does successfully bridge the gap between a standard
activity tracker and a sportswatch.
It didn't sound as exciting as the Gear S3 or even Gear IconX at first, but the Samsung Gear Fit 2 is now shaping up as the ultimate
activity tracker.
Regardless of whether you're interested in intensifying your fitness
activities in the coming weeks after all those holiday lunches and dinners have settled down, start working out at all, or know someone who'll
do either, there's basically no better time of the year to go shopping for gadgets and various consumer electronics like fitness
trackers due to the abundance of discount - happy retailers.
Although many
activity trackers are capable of this, unlike some, the Forerunner 35 doesn't just tell you you've got a text or WhatsApp, it lets you read the messages directly on your wrist, too.
The Vivomove doesn't just look more stylish and sophisticated than usual
activity trackers, it's easier on the eye than pretty much any other smartwatch on the market.
Again, Withings isn't the only company to
do Wi - Fi scales, with Fitbit's Aria scales providing a similar experience, but if you have a Withings Pulse
activity tracker, or any of the other Withings gadgets, monitoring everything through the Health app is nice and easy and provides you with all your measurements,
activities and goals in one place.
The high quality earbuds
do function each as a Bluetooth headset but also serves as fitness
trackers in their own right, providing
activity tracking and fitness data even without a matching smartwatch or smartband.
But
does it truly possess a rich feature set and effective ecosystem capable of allowing it to continue to be the world - beating
activity tracker Fitbit hopes it to be?
That doesn't mean that it won't be similar to the smartwatch variants in the company's current lineup, but it could be much more closely related to another device that has been previously been reported on and which falls more into the category of a fitness wearable, so there is every possibility that this could be a new device that falls in line more with Samsung's Gear Fit series of
activity trackers.
If you're looking for a Fitbit that
does all the Fitbit stuff but doesn't look like a terrible
activity tracker, Fitbit's Alta HR is the way to go.
If you want to track your
activities with an inexpensive fitness
tracker that doesn't look like one, you'll appreciate the $ 99 Fitbit Flex 2.
For a no - frills
activity tracker, it doesn't get much better (or cheaper) than the Jawbone Up Move.
