Losses exceeded $ 230 million in 2016, yet the bureau estimates that only a fraction
of crimes are even reported, putting the likely
actual number much higher.
Whether a
crime was reasonably foreseeable will depend upon a
number of factors such as the location
of the establishment, the history
of crime in the neighborhood, and the history
of crime on the
actual premises.
