Recipes evolve, and I thought I'd share the updated version I've been making lately - very similar concept
adding a blend of
coconut «
bacon», and crumbled tempeh seasoned and baked alongside the
coconut.
So I make my
coconut «
bacon» and
add a good amount of crumbled tempeh - a 50 / 50 - ish mix.
In the same frying pan,
add some odorless
coconut oil and fry some pieces of the «I SEA
BACON», it will turn from black into greenish and then it's ready and crunchy.
I've always made it with the
coconut oil, which seems to
add a bit of sweetness... I'm considering using
bacon fat tonight instead, but I'm not sure I want to mess with a sure thing!
A typical full day of eating for me looks like: Breakfast: Spinach, Mushroom, Onion and Tomato Frittata... sometimes with
bacon or homemade sausage Iced Coffee with
coconut milk Lunch (this is usually my largest meal of the day): 4 - 5 ounces of protein (turkey burger, pulled pork, chicken thighs, ground buffalo), roasted veggies and sometimes a sweet potato or butternut squash Snack: apple with almond butter or a handful of macadamia nuts Dinner: A large salad with all kinds of raw veggies (cucumber, celery, carrots, cauliflower), avocado or olives, usually a lighter protein like grilled chicken breast, salmon or shrimp This would represent a full menu... I would say I hit this about 4 - 5 days a week, other days I may omit the snack or keep the snack and omit a meal, if i do that though I would
add a bit of protein with it.
Heat up a Dutch oven very hot and then
add a couple tablespoons of butter,
bacon grease, or refined
coconut oil.
Add coconut oil or
bacon fat to a medium pot over medium heat.
A healthier egg and avocado blt using
coconut bacon,
adding avocado and a fried egg.
Either keep it dairy (with the cheese) and skip the meat and use butter or
coconut oil instead of the
bacon fat; or you could make it meat and eliminate the cheese but
add a larger amount of turkey
bacon and use either beef drippings, schmaltz, or
coconut oil; or you could make the recipe pareve by skipping both the cheese and the meat and using just
coconut or olive oil and some chopped, cooked veggies like cauliflower or broccoli, or even some salmon if you like.
I
added a can of
coconut milk and topped this with some crumbled
bacon — divine, divine, divine!
Salty
bacon helps balance out the sweetness of the parsnips, while
coconut milk
adds richness at the end.
I just had 2 cups of almond flour so I used 1/2 cup of
coconut flour,
added a couple tablespoons of
bacon grease, jalapeno pepper, didn't have sundried tomatoes.
Do I
add extra butter,
coconut oil, avocados, and
bacon to nourish my body?
Add coconut oil or

add bacon grease, grass - fed butter or
coconut oil when I fry it up with my eggs.
While you're waiting for the livers to cool,
add enough
coconut oil (or oil of your choice) to the
bacon grease to equal 1/3 cup.
Optional extras -
add your favorite fat eg mct oil,
coconut oil, butter, ghee or even
bacon fat, yum!!
Make the filling: Melt the
coconut oil in a skillet over medium and
add the chicken,
bacon, mushrooms, onion, and garlic; saute until mostly cooked.
