Initially I roasted the rosemary and thyme with the veggies but found they got a little burnt and
added a bitter taste to the final dish so I now
add them to the
pearl barley while simmering.
Follow that up with oats,
pearled barley, whole peas, and flaxseed for carbohydrates and fiber (
adding up to about 5 % fiber content).
I cook the beef a long time in the broth before I
add the
barley,
pearl, and
add water and bouillon cubes if necessary.
We expect to find some carbohydrates in the first few ingredients but this food contains brown rice, cracked
pearled barley, and rice bran which
adds up to a lot of carbs and some fillers.
