I made this soup with
sweet potato and
red pepper added to the carrot.
I infused a few tablespoons of butter with spicy
red pepper flakes, heated them in the pan I would eventually bake the cornbread in,
added the batter, baked it off, and ended up with a nice crusty, slightly

We
added some mushrooms and

We eat spaghetti with «meat sauce» (basically: cook an onion and some ground beef, drain, cook some garlic &
red pepper flakes in the leftover fat,
add a jar or two of tomato sauce — we like Classico because it's not
sweet — toss in parmesan and Italian seasoning, and let it cook while you boil the noodles) «smashed» chicken (what we call chicken that's been beaten flat with my rolling pin and then cooked in the cast iron pan on really high heat), and homemade pizza pretty much every week.
* 8 cups organic chicken stock, preferably homemade * 5 kaffir lime leaves * 1 thumb - sized chunk of fresh ginger, peeled * 2 tablespoons «Dates and Tamarind Cooking Sauce» (I used the one from Stonehouse 27 which is a great combination of
sweet and spicy; if you can't find it, I would
add a tablespoon or two of palm or brown sugar to sweeten the broth and some minced fresh hot chile
pepper / dried Thai chiles / hot chile sauce to spice it up) * 2 tablespoons Thai fish sauce * 3 medium carrots, peeled if not organic and cut lengthwise into strips a few inches long * 1
red pepper, preferably organic, seeded and thinly sliced lengthwise * green tops from 1 bunch of green onions / scallions, cut to approximately same length as carrots and
peppers * 12 oz.
Fabulous as it is, but i also
added a little tofu for creaminess, some leftover
sweet potato and some more
red bell
pepper.
When the
sweet potatoes are ready,
add the black beans, corn and
red pepper and simmer for a couple more minutes to heat through.
Layer the beans first before
adding cheese sauce, roasted
sweet potatoes, avocado (or guacamole, if using), green onion, pickled jalapeños, roasted
red pepper, cabbage, cilantro, and salsa.
Add in the
sweet red peppers and cook on all sides until browned and blistered.
Cumin
added an earthiness to the flavor of the
sweet potatoes while crushed
red pepper flakes provided an overall spiciness.
It was terrific against the greens and
sweet ingredients I
added (carrots, parsnips,
red pepper) plus I liked the crunch of the salty peanuts with these
added ingredients too!
I would just saute some some
sweet onions and
red peppers, and maybe
add some cherry tomatoes, herbs, and a little olive oil and eat it like that.
Feel free to also
add any extra veggies that sound good to the base recipe above — we love roasted broccoli,
sweet potatoes, and asparagus during cooler months, and chopped cherry tomatoes, diced
red pepper, corn, and grilled zucchini / squash in the Summer.
Make a
sweet barbecue sauce for grilled chicken leg quarters by
adding brown sugar and frozen apple juice concentrate to your favorite bottled barbecue sauce, and spice it up with just a sprinkle of
red pepper and chili powder.
Feel free to
add any extra veggies that sound good to the base recipe above — we also love roasted
sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and asparagus during cooler months, and chopped cherry tomatoes, diced

add one tablespoon of EVOO and quick fry leeks for three minutes,
