addict abuses alcohol or drugs.

alcohol are called drunkards; that the alcoholic or drug
addict is a person controlled by his or her habit; that the Christian is to be «controlled» by the Holy Spirit; that we have a choice in such matters; that substance
abuse or misabuse has brought these people «under the power,» and that such «uncontrolled lifestyle» is called unrighteousness (sin).

addicts, particularly
addicts with children.

The signs of substance
abuse vary based on the type of substance a person is
addicted to and how his or her body reacts to the drugs or
alcohol.
I am particularly interested in the problems families face when one or more family members
abuses or is
addicted to drugs or
alcohol, and I have experience working with adolescents, adults and families in recovery.
They include: physical, emotional and sexual
abuse; physical and emotional neglect; living with a family member who's
addicted to
alcohol or other substances, or who's depressed or has other mental illnesses; experiencing parental divorce or separation; having a family member who's incarcerated, and witnessing a mother being
abused.
Parenting support in the highest risk groups where parents have severe mental health problems, are
addicted (typically to drugs or
alcohol) or are
abusing their children.
