This week, I'm
adding jicama to my Chicken Salad, Stir - Fry, Egg Rolls, and Rainbow Apple Salad.
Assembly time: In the same large bowl with the fried taro and potatoes,
add the jicama, tofu, vermicelli and fried onions.
Add jicama and bell pepper; stir - fry 3 minutes.
Add jicama; stir - fry 1 minute.
I added some jicama which added a lovely crunch and balanced well with the avocados.
Add the jicama and radish, and toss to combine.
Add jicama, carrots, red onion and cilantro and toss together well.

Combine corn kernels,
jicama and mango in a large bowl,
add chipotle, if using.
Substitute celery for the
jicama,
add oranges or apples, and you have a lower - fat take on a Waldorf salad.
Then
add the garlic,
jicama, bell pepper, and poblano pepper.
The
jicama adds a nice crunch and flavor.
Add crunch and a flare of flavor with slices of
jicama, roughly chopped cilantro and a lime wedge (see above)
In the same large pan,
add about 1 tablespoon of oil and fry all the
jicama slices until golden brown.
I also substitute celery for the
jicama because it's more plentiful and much cheaper, also
adds a little taste...????
Add to mushroom and palm heart bowl along with chopped cilantro, garlic, olive oil, cucumber,
jicama, tomato and avocado.
Kicked up with jalapeno, the
jicama adds a crisp crunch to all the best fruits of the summer season.
I've used
jicama in a more savory salad with radishes, but never thought to
add it to fruit salads!
I would
add a little less
jicama next time.
The toasted pine nuts
added a lot of depth — this easy addition really improved the basic concept of
jicama / oranges / lime.
Next time I'll use maybe cucumber instead of the
jicama, and
add a lime - garlic creme.
Slice the kernels off of the cob and
add to the large mixing bowl with the
jicama.
Both the
jicama and corn bring a natural sweetness to this salsa, so I just
added a drop or two of agave nectar to round out the tanginess of the fresh lime juice.
Grate the
jicama and radishes and
add to a medium bowl.
Make the salad:
add the radicchio, fennel,
jicama, Romaine, dill and 1/2 of the supremed grapefruit to a large salad bowl.
Serve the dressing on shrimp salad, chicken salad or mixed greens;
add diced
jicama and fresh cilantro leaves to the salad for even more flavor.
Jicama (a mild veggie similar to water chestnuts) and carrots (which contain around 87 percent water)
add some crunch to this morning - appropriate take on spring rolls.
I'd recommend
adding lentils, cucumbers,
jicama, spring onions, fresh herbs, and more seeds to vary the salads for a slightly different bowl each time, and it'll continue allowing you to have salad more often than normal; that is fun and light for season.

add broccoli sprouts, shredded carrot, and / or shredded
jicama.

adding cancer - fighting turmeric.
