Larissa, the crafty DIY master behind the blog Prodigal Pieces, started the lengthy makeover process by refinishing the floors, creating a stunning faux barn - beam ceiling, and
adding plank walls covered in a cream - colored paint.
I have been thinking about
adding plank walls to our bonus room and you have really inspired me to tackle the project!
I want to try the mirrored closets in our small master bedroom and
add a plank wall to my son's bedroom.
Our original plan was to
add planked walls like we had in our old house or maybe even planking the ceiling to bring more character.
We also are
adding a planked wall to our dining room to cover up the doorbell niche (my apologies to anyone who loved that niche) and my newly relocated office in the lower level will be getting a brand new wall and door to make it an official room.
Now we are ready to
add the plank wall treatment and paint!
Currently I want to
add a plank wall and paint out my kitchen cabinets and do a small Reno to remove the peninsula for an island.

add planked walls somewhere (everywhere!)

we added planked walls to our old house... well, I missed them.
It started out plain and pink, then got messy and pink, then I painted and stenciled it, organized everything,
we added the plank walls and now we added the new door and can officially call this space finished!

Try a
planked wall or beadboard ceiling, or beef up some beautiful moldings to
add character to the monochrome.

walls and painted them white, which really helped to lighten up the space.

planked walls are in order, similar to this pic (only I won't be
planking the ceiling).
Dove White is my go - to when I want a softer, cozier, creamier white, and I used this shade in my bedroom when we
added planks to the
walls.

... so it's really not any different than if you
added wood
planks and 2 × 4 studs to the outside of a drywalled

Since Kourtney and her hubby already
planked the
wall behind their headboard, I thought it would be neat to
add more white painted
planks to the ceiling to really highlight the fact that it's angled.
But alas, since I wasn't able to
plank our ceiling or
add molding or beams at least yet, I
planked a small section of
wall instead.

I love the
plank wall, it
adds alot of character to the room.
They also discovered an original bathroom window that was closed off, replaced the old shower with an old tub, and planed and
added tongue - and - groove joints to the
wall planks and put them back up on the
walls.
So, I love kitchen # 1 for you, I think
adding the
wall planks and taking the cabinets up on # 1 would give it that extra «something special» oh, and of course the horse, I like the horse.

Add construction adhesive to the back of your
planks and secure them to the
wall with finish nails.
I'm also still dreaming of a new white
planked wall (I'm eventually planning to cover the «three window
wall» with
planks, leaving the rest of the living room / entry
walls Studio Taupe), more white wood on the ceiling and
adding a new light fixture (the style of the one from Barnlight Electric above is so lovely but I may also decide to just get a new ceiling fan — we'll see).
i just cant get over how some painted wooden
planks across a
wall can make a room feel so gorgeously cottage - y and cosy and
add soooo much character!!
One thing I really like about the more subtle look of less space in between
planks and the random lengths on the
wall is that it doesn't seem to scream LOOK AT THIS NEW
PLANKED WALL WE JUST
ADDED.

Love the horizontal in kitchen and, if
adding built - ins on long
wall in living, think the vertical
planks would work well there.
(Keep in mind, they * just *
added the wood
planks to the other side of the
wall that you see there, and it's a
wall they don't want a window on.)
As you can see, they
added white - painted wood
planks to the
wall, and finished it off with tile on the hearth and surround.
By
adding wide pine
planks to the
wall, paint, shelves and some diy barn doors I think we achieved a much lighter and dramatically different look!
