As the real estate manager for the city of Orlando, Fla., I want to point out additional steps real estate professionals can take to deal with deteriorating properties near their listings («Battling the Neighborhood Eyesore,» June 2011, p. 13).

New financing will be invested in the following: additional markets (funding looks as though it will flow more freely in 18 - hour cities), alternative assets (what constitutes real estate will continue to expand), old is new again (older space is now a hot item and it's making the market consider a wider range of potential investments), and alternative property types (medical office and senior housing may see a benefit from the change in demographics, along with data centers and lab space, that may be in demand due to technical changes).

Property taxes in South Dakota can be levied by any of the following tax authorities: school districts, cities, townships, counties, water districts and additional special districts for specific purposes such as fire protection or sanitary systems.

To help home owners whose property taxes increased, the city introduced a «gentrification relief program,» and has allowed other adjustments such as additional exemptions and appeals to help in the transition to the new system.

For example, for a high - rise building in a very high - rent neighborhood, the city could require that about 28 percent of any additional zoning density be affordable if the building is subject to full property taxes.

But non-bank commercial real estate owners with offices in London or other U.K. cities don't have the same resources as banks and may push off buying additional U.S. properties in the near term.

Additional properties include Staples in Jersey City, N.J.; Charming Shoppes in Macomb, Ill.; CVS in Irmo, S.C.; Heilig - Meyers in Blythe, Calif.; and Kinko's in Indianapolis.

If the property is located in a city or town that has mortgage tax, you'll pay an additional 25 to 50 cents.
