"Additional paternity" refers to the concept of a father being given additional rights and responsibilities, commonly in terms of parental leave or childcare, beyond what is traditionally expected of him. It recognizes that fathers play an important role in raising children and allows them to take on more active roles in their child's life.

As an employee you are entitled to
additional paternity leave for up to 26 weeks, taken between 20 weeks and one year after your baby is born.
Fathers were entitled to 2 weeks paid paternity leave and something
called Additional Paternity Leave for up to 26 weeks, but only if their partner returned to work.
And he can't begin his
own Additional Paternity Leave before that time: he could look after his baby of course, but not «officially» and not paid or with his job held open.
