On
an adjacent wall of the gallery, five sculptures from Leigh's series Anatomy of Architecture (2016) passively adorn the exhibition space, bearing silent witness.

of Herring's work that will be on view beginning Saturday, October 22.

In the first room
of Marian Goodman's new
gallery,
adjacent pairs
of vast grey painted - glass panels are retwinned on opposite
walls, so that the space contracts a little around a huge central sculpture, 7 Panes
of Glass (House
of Cards)(2013), that drolly invokes both Richard Serra's cliffs
of leaning steel and Caspar David Friedrich's The Sea
of Ice (1824).
AT THE THRESHOLD
of this exhibition is Glenn Ligon's Give Us a Poem, 2007, positioned immediately
adjacent to the show title that spans the entirety
of the
gallery's outer
wall.
Setting the tone for severity, the artist commandeered the Brutalist ambience
of the gray, cinderblock - enclosed courtyard
adjacent to the
gallery entrance with a prominently placed, bodily scaled, faux - concrete - and - asphalt work from 1994, Cell with Conduit, thrust several inches out from the
wall by a hefty steel armature.
Leigh Ledare 00 PH, best known for his own disturbing photography, presents a new 16 mm film called Vokzal, shot in Moscow outside three
adjacent train stations and presented in the
galleries as three looped 16 mm projections replete with the cranking and buzzing
of the anachronistic projectors used to screen the film on the
walls.
This new score, to be performed with electronics and objects, takes particular consideration
of the exhibition's porosity with the
adjacent café and cityscape, made visible from a 16x9 window cut through one
of the
gallery walls.
Labor and color are also the focus
of selections from two bodies
of work, «Solid Grey» and «Color / White,» hung on the
walls of the
adjacent South
Gallery.
In the
adjacent gallery will be EDGE III (2012), a solid iron body that stands on the
wall at the height
of a bed.
