Perhaps these are breeds that didn't benefit from a surge in imports after 2000 (wish we could see the data for imports), but there is no evidence that breeders have been
adjusting breeding strategies to reduce the level of inbreeding.
A diverse mix of potential adaptation
strategies, such as crop
breeding, changing crop varieties,
adjusting planting time, water management, diversification of crops and a host of indigenous practices will all be applicable within local contexts.
