In 2015, PAAS had a shelter full of dogs and cats, a long, long, long waiting list of owner surrenders and only a handful of potential
adopters coming through the door each week.
If 20 animals are waiting when that same
adopter comes through the door, the odds drop to 1 in 20.

There are far more dogs that
come through his
doors than potential
adopters, and he therefore must helplessly supervise the euthanasia of those that are not taken.
Of course there will be dogs to be let out and played with, kitty condos to clean and potential
adopters to greet, but beyond that, nothing can prepare us for who or what will
come through our
doors.
