"advanced apprenticeship" refers to a program where individuals receive training and gain practical skills in a specific trade or profession, typically after completing a basic apprenticeship. It is a more advanced level of learning where apprentices build upon their existing knowledge and experience to further develop expertise in their chosen field.

Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2; equivalent to five good GCSE passes) This provides students with the skills and qualifications in their chosen career and allows entry to
an Advanced Apprenticeship if desired.
However, to move on to
an Advanced Apprenticeship, you'll generally need at least five good GCSEs, or to have completed the Intermediate level.
After completing an Intermediate Apprenticeship, you can move onto
an Advanced Apprenticeship (commonly with the same employer), or move into a fully - paid full - time position in your chosen position.
They can also be used as an entry qualification for
an Advanced Apprenticeship, which is the next level of apprenticeship.
Intermediate Apprenticeships are set at Level 2, whereas
an Advanced Apprenticeship is set at Level 3, or A level standard.
Attending college enables trainees to fulfil the theoretical element of their training and pick up other qualifications such as numeracy, literacy or ICT in addition to
their advanced apprenticeship qualification.
That said, schemes can be highly competitive, and having additional qualifications, such as two A levels or
an Advanced Apprenticeship, could boost your application chances.
To get started with
an Advanced Apprenticeship, you'll normally need 5 GCSE's at grade C or above, or an equivalent Level 2 qualification.
Lots of small companies offer
Advanced Apprenticeships, but some of the world's biggest businesses, such as Volkswagen, National Grid and other manufacturing companies also run tailored advanced apprenticeship programmes independently.
It's also possible to progress from an Intermediate Apprenticeship onto
an Advanced Apprenticeship.
Advanced Apprenticeships are an alternative to A levels, providing students with the opportunity to build practical experience in the workplace and develop their skills.
Once completed, you'll be able to progress onto
an Advanced Apprenticeship — or start looking for permanent employment.
Once
an Advanced Apprenticeship has been completed, you may also move onto a Higher Apprenticeship — the highest level available.
And, as Higher Apprenticeship is the next step up from
an Advanced Apprenticeship, this is also a suitable entry requirement.
