advocacy groups that worked to garner Congressional support, «Together these programs provide critical investments in the health of

The widespread absence of attention to the mother -
child relationship in the treatment of depression in
women with young
children is another striking example of the gap between science
and practice that could be reduced by targeted pediatric
advocacy.97 Extensive research has demonstrated the extent to which maternal depression compromises the contingent reciprocity between a mother
and her young
child that is essential
for healthy cognitive, linguistic, social,
and emotional development.98 Despite that well - documented observation, the treatment of depression in
women with young
children is typically viewed as an adult mental health service
and rarely includes an explicit focus on the mother -
child relationship.
There are even «
advocacy» groups, Justice
for Children (JFC) being among them, that vociferously reject the very existence of PA
and even go to lengths of making such wild claims that the use of the PA allegation is nothing but than an act of retaliation by a
child sexually abusing man (father) toward a «protective»
woman (mother).
Antoinette Braybrook from the National Family Violence Prevention Legal Services says they are not funded
for policy
and advocacy, therefore the funds will affect their ability to represent
women and children affected by violence.
Established in 1992, the 120 - day treatment program
for pregnant
women or mothers with
children under age 12 seeks to provide a family - centered approach to decrease maternal substance abuse
and promote healthy family outcomes through prevention, treatment education, research
and advocacy.
Another example raises the question of what influences
advocacy, this one from a

and AFCC activist who inexplicably lobbies
for joint custody
and father's rights (
and more therapeutic jurisprudence in the courts) even though the arrangement worked
for neither herself as a
