I was an abstract painter when I left Yale, and I was really aware, partially because minimalist artists had helped me articulate this, how standing in front of a painting or sculpture felt different depending on whether it's symmetrical or asymmetrical, if it towers over you, or it's smaller than your head how all of those things
affect bodily feeling.
