So the idea that Labour would be left without any income if
affiliated trade union members stopped contributing on the scale that the GMB figures suggest is evidently an exaggeration.
Under the new rules,
affiliated trade union members will have to choose to become a supporter or member of the Labour Party.
This has now been changed to one - member - one - vote, although
affiliated trade union members can sign up to become affiliated members and get a vote that way.

It's a fair system — the
trade union member has to proactively sign up for
affiliated status.
The previous structure gave votes to three blocks — MPs,
