I used ground organic flaxseed sprinkled on top after cooking the oatmeal, and organic
agave in place of the honey.
I think I'll try
agave in place of the honey next time, just because agave has a lower glycemic index.

I substituted 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup
agave syrup
in place of honey, and I used chia seeds as an egg replacer, used coconut oil, and put raisins AND cocoa nibs!
As for the cake, I cut the recipe
in half, used three whole eggs, and 1/4 cup
of honey in place of your chosen
agave.

honey in place of Agave and it always works well as a substitute since it's a similar consistency.
For those who are interested
in substituting stevia for the
agave, I just made this recipe and used four dropper - fuls
of vanilla stevia
in place of the
agave (and added a tablespoon
of honey to add a bit more liquid) and baked them.
I use coconut nectar or yacon syrup
in place of the
honey /
agave.
I used
agave syrup
in place of honey when I discovered I had no
honey and like others, I used a Honeycrisp apple
in place of the pear as I was serving poached pears for desert.
Only modification was to use
honey in place of Agave and to add a tbsp

You can make them without the xanthan gum, just add an extra 2 tablespoons

Agave is also quickly crossing over from the health food market to mainstream grocery chains, and consumers (especially vegans and raw food enthusiasts) are buying up bottles
of the stuff to use
in place of other sweeteners, like
honey.
