India
water Portal: India like many other developing countries has focused its
agricultural policies on increasing
agricultural production to meet food security.

According to the report, to address those threats a
policy framework should be developed that enables the sustainable development of the Marshlands and addresses trade - offs among current and future uses of the Marshlands, such as those between

Some of the major human activities responsible for the destruction of wetlands in India include hydrologic alteration,
agricultural activities, pollution, legal -
policy failures, direct deforestation in wetlands, inundation by dammed reservoirs, degradation of
water quality, global climate change effects, ground -
water depletion and introduced species — extinction of native biota.

Key areas of focus include getting more waste to treatment, and improving treatment effectiveness where needed; improving the testing to target hormonally active substances in waste
waters; and
agricultural and chemical
policy reform.
Not only do the economic climate models need to predict
policy shifts, population growth, and the pace and type of climate changes to come — more droughts, more severe storms, higher temperatures in some places and lower in others, etc. — but they also try to quantify things such as
agricultural and forestry losses, damage from catastrophic storms, utility costs, savings from efficiency improvements,
water shortages, and sometimes even the economic consequences of refugee flows.
The plan was the result of a decade of collaboration among scientists,
policy makers, and public stakeholders, with the federal / state governments to restore South Florida's ecosystem and provide
water for urban and
agricultural uses.
These procedural rights are particularly significant in determining whether and at what level Indigenous people are engaged in negotiations concerning state - wide land use
policy including
water management, infrastructure, national parks,
agricultural activities etc..
However, access to economic development for the Indigenous peoples of the Murray - Darling via their lands and
waters has to date been significantly limited by the priority of
water allocations being given to industrial and
agricultural activities, and the
policy barriers to having their rights to their lands,
waters and natural resources recognised, including the recognition of native title.
