circulation — in particular, the strength and position of the Aleutian Low, a semi-permanent, subpolar area of low pressure located in the Gulf of Alaska near the Aleutian Islands — largely determined the timing of snowmelt during spring in Alaska,
by either facilitating or inhibiting the transport of warm, moist
air into the region.
Their research, published in Nature Climate Change on June 29, is the first attempt to examine and document these changes in the

A typical example is the Kilimanjaro glacier, where the shrinking is largely due to dryer
air, caused in part
by deforestation at the foot, in part also
by general faster
air circulation, which dried the upper
air in the tropics.
As far as this historic period is concerned, the reconstruction of past temperatures based on deep boreholes in deep permafrost is one of the best past temperature proxies we have (for the global regions with permafrost — polar regions and mountainous regions)-- as a signal of average temperatures it's even more accurate than historic direct measurements of the
air temperature, since the earth's upper crust acts as a near perfect conservator of past temperatures — given that no water
circulation takes place, which is precisely the case in permafrost where
by definition the water is frozen.
I suggest the slowing of Hadley cell
circulation caused
by weaker differential temperatures between major
air masses, this will cause all the phenomenas cited.
That is caused
by the convective
circulation induced there due to hydrostatic instability of
air parcels of different density (via gas law equivalent to different temperature).
Whatever forcing elements seek to drive system energy content away from that set
by mass, gravity and ToA insolation the global
air circulation will react negatively to cancel it.
Just selectively remove the CO2 in the
air of Antarctica
by adsorption and let natural

The rising arrows represent columns of
air, but I believe the descending arrows represent,
by in large, a more diffuse long - term
circulation.
Instead of the regime of individual «doughnut - shaped»
circulation around each thunderstorm and cumulus cloud, it has all been replaced
by long cylinders of
air which sink in the valleys between the serried rows of thunderstorms, and rise up through their centers.
By Amber Bentley (Aged 11) In just 16 pages, this wonderful book covers the structure of the atmosphere, solar radiation, the water cycle, clouds, fronts, convection,
air pressure,
air masses, the global atmospheric
circulation, making weather observations, forecasting, synoptic charts, hurricanes, regional climate, palaeoclimates and anthropogenic climate change.
Many factors — like the thermohaline
circulation, which reverses direction at the poles as warm salty water releases heat into the
air and sinks down to the bottom — are heavily influenced
by the ocean's salinity, and thus, the movement of freshwater into and around the Arctic plays an important role in shaping both regional and global climate.
More clouds both drastically reduce energy input from the sun and simply slow release of what energy there is trapped in the lower troposphere, but the long term effect would be a fall in average temperature because of the significantly reduced input power but the atmosphere's ability to cool is aided
by air current
circulation whereby the warmer
air rises above those low clouds and that infra - red is more easily re-emitted into space, whereby the low clouds now block that re-emission from hitting the ground again to any significant degree.
The large area of warm water exposed thereby warms the
air, warm
air rises, interferes with trades, mixes with global
circulation, and raises its temperature
by half a degree.
A simple engine model (nothing new here but simplification) with the firebox in, say, 20S to 20N and the exhaust 50 - 60Lat and poleward effected

In 1856, William Ferrel proposed the existence of a
circulation cell in the mid-latitudes with
air being deflected
by the Coriolis force to create the prevailing westerly winds.
The researchers suspect warmer temperatures in the tropical Pacific Ocean amplify warming at high elevations in the Arctic
by changing
air circulation patterns.
The
circulation is accompanied somewhat
by a decrease in the overall range of surface -
air temperature between the equator and poles and
by an overall increase in the mean global surface -
air temperatures.
According to this system, all observable variation in atmospheric
circulation is classified into three basic types
by direction of the
air mass transfer: Meridional (C); Western (W), and Eastern (E).
That would change the
air circulation patterns resulting in the observed wind effect on the ocean surfaces but would itself have been caused
by changes in the rate of release or absorption of energy from the ocean surfaces.
