airbag inflator recall worldwide, Takata is in search of financial support to help pay for the costs that it has incurred since news broke that its faulty airbag inflators can explode forcefully and spray metal shards into the passenger cabin.

airbag inflators that are subject to propellant degradation and potential rupture in a crash.
Automakers have paid for the
recall costs of the faulty Takata
airbags, given the root cause of the
airbag inflator's fault has yet to be completely detailed.
Over 100 million
airbag inflators are expected to be
recalled by the end of 2019 while new
recalls are being announced almost every week.
Nissan has identified certain U.S. models that will be
recalled for the passenger's side front
airbag inflator defect, but has not yet identified which models will be included in the high - humidity - related defect that will include vehicles in Hawaii and Florida.
This
recall concerns possibly defective
inflator propellant that may cause the
airbags to deploy with too much pressure.
Automotive News also reports Toyota announced a
recall affecting 490,000 vehicles in regions including Japan, China and Europe for faulty
airbag inflators also made by Takata.
The potential
airbag issues caused by the Daimler steering column in Mercedes, Inifiniti and now Aston Martin cars has nothing to do with global
recall of the Takata
airbag inflators.
Honda is
recalling around 784,000 vehicles in Japan for faulty Takata
airbag inflators, according to Reuters.
More cars have been added to the global
recall of Takata
airbag inflators as Ford has issued a safety
recall for various vehicles including the 2007 - 2010 Edge, 2006 - 2011 Fusion, 2005 - 2011 Mustang, 2007 - 2011 Ranger, 2007 - 2010 Lincoln MKX, and 2006 - 2011 Lincoln MKZ, Zephyr, and Mercury Milan.
To date, manufacturers have
recalled more than 100 million vehicles around the world due to Takata
airbag inflators that can explode with too much force and send metal shrapnel throughout the cabin.
The news comes after last week when eight automakers announced
recalls for 12 million vehicles due to faulty Takata
airbag inflators.
Millions of vehicles from almost every auto maker are being
recalled to replace faulty Takata
airbag inflators.
This recent
recall from Toyota adds to the growing number of vehicles from various manufacturers being
recalled worldwide because of defective
airbag inflators made by Takata.

The safety agency previously gave Takata until the end of 2019 to prove that its remaining
airbag inflators using ammonium nitrate are fundamentally safe, but now all Takata
airbags using that propellant without a chemical drying agent must be
recalled.

airbag inflators; in every case Ford is working closely with NHTSA to prioritize vehicle repairs and is working closely with the Agency to ensure our customers are informed on the status of repair availability of their vehicles.
Toyota is
