If you see
any airline awards you like for next winter, now is the time to lock them in.
Not exact matches
ANA uses different
award charts when flying their own metal versus flying with an ANA partner
like United
Airlines.
Other cards,
like the Discover it ® Miles and the Barclays Arrival Plus ® World Elite Mastercard ®,
award users what they call «miles» but are functionally more
like points — that is, they can be redeemed for more things than simply flights with that
airline.
Like many of the other top hotel cards, Hyatt points tend to be a little more valuable per point than
airline or generic
awards.
On the other hand,
airlines like American and United have fixed - rate
award charts that make it easier to understand how far your miles will get you.
Some
airlines like Southwest do not publish a fixed
award chart; instead, the cost of an
award flight fluctuates to match the cash sticker price of the paid fare equivalent.

airline loyalty programs, Etihad Guest Miles can be redeemed for
awards.

awards and receive elite qualification credit from the

To get the most out of
airline miles, you really need to pay attention to things

airline partners you can use with which miles, where to search for

Delta doesn't make
award flights as seamless as others
like American
Airlines, but it is possible to find and book something amazing!
That might make Hilton sound
like a better deal, but their high rates for
award rooms means that transferring to an
airline partner might actually give you better value.
Many
airline cards offer benefits
like free baggage, priority boarding and
award discounts.
Most travel rewards credit cards also
award bonus points or miles for specific purchases
like hotel stays or
airline tickets.
Because you can't use miles from other SkyTeam
airlines (
like Delta) to book Flying Blue Promo
Awards, you'll have to book
award tickets with Flying Blue miles.
However, if you can find
award space on partners

Airlines, you can get a lot of value from their distance - based
award chart.
In addition, there is great value in using SKYPASS miles for
awards on partner
airlines, especially gems
like traveling from the continental U.S. to Hawaii on Delta.
Starwood transfer partners include many lesser known
airline programs which can be very useful,
like Lufthansa's Miles and More program which allows 2 stopovers on a round - trip
award.
Or transfer the points to partners
like United
Airlines for travel such as a round - trip
award ticket within the US and Canada or a 1 - way flight to Europe.
Then, you can use the points to book
award flights on partner
airlines like Alaska Airlines or American A
airlines like Alaska

Tucked away in the
airline's
award chart is a truly outstanding deal for flights
like from Australia or New Zealand to South Asia, which includes Hong Kong and Macau, but not China at large.
I would definitely use a different resource
like the United
Airlines website, Aeroplan website, or ANA website to confirm
award space if I have trouble booking something on LifeMiles.
Like many
airlines today, United is pretty flexible when it comes to allowing one - way
awards and open jaws.
Like British Airways Executive Club, the Japan
Airlines Mileage Bank program uses a distance - based
award chart.
For EQM - Zero flyers
like ourselves Alliances and partners are important because
award seats at the low level on any one partner

Do note that Flying Blue's best
award redemptions tend to be in economy class vs business and offer low rates to places
like Hawaii, Central and South America, and even Europe at costs less than many of their partner
airlines included Alaska or Delta.
The United reservation desk, however, was unable to rebook me on a partner
airline,
like Lufthansa, which operates a good international product, even in Economy, unless the partner
airline had
award availability.
