With homes being turned around to world class comfort, health and energy performance standards in a twelve week build schedule, Silken Park takes a disarmingly simple approach: single leaf hollow block construction sat on an insulated foundation system, the walls wrapped in a generous layer of high density Rockwool external insulation, with a sand and cement render internally acting as
the airtight layer.
The wet - plaster finish acted as the primary
airtight layer.

The lean to roof includes 225 timber joists, which were pumped with cellulose insulation; an Ampac Ampatop Protecta membrane & tapes; and a 100 mm service cavity with Sheep Wool Insulation inside
the airtight layer
Sheehy adds that although the building design minimised service penetrations to protect
the airtight layer, continuous consultation with John Morehead also played a role.
The builders took a number of key steps to make sure
the airtight layer remained intact: this included direct site supervision from Paul's father Pat, giving «toolbox talks» to tradespeople on site, and putting up signs warning people on site to inform the builders if
the airtight layer was breached, whether intentionally or by accident.

Although the selected timber frame system includes an internal
airtight layer, an additional membrane was applied to the room side of the panels in order to meet the airtightness target.

an airtight layer of protection, you can always setup a PGP key so only the intended recipient can decrypt your emails.
