To add to my comment: I realize that it is possible and possibly more responsible and ideal to have a natural birth IN a hospital setting... unfortunately - like Ricki Lake says in her movie - hospitals are in business to make money and their efficiency time table does not usually involve encouraging or
allowing natural labor to progress, which can take over 24 hours in a lot of cases.
To avoid birth injuries, the doctor may decide it is better to take the baby by cesarean rather than
allow a natural labor and birth.
