I have a nut allergy and wondered if there were any equally healthy alternatives you know that would
work instead of things like
almond butter, coconut
oil, cashew butter etc that feature quite heavily in your recipes?
About body moisturizers — I use
almond oil and it
works so well for me.
I didn't have quite enough ground
almonds so I used 100g fine oatmeal so I think gluten free flour would
work weak too, you might need a bit more coconut
oil and / or water though.
I haven't tried argan
oil before but I think
almond oil could
work well too!
I used
almond oil but most oils would
work well.

I've experimented with this recipe quite a bit over the past several weeks, and I've found that using a drippy
almond butter, where the only ingredient is
almonds (no added
oil)
works the best for texture.
I didn't make substitutions however it is only my second time
working with coconut
oil and
almond butter and both recipes were a little soft.
Because I do just about all of my recipe writing using
almond flour, grapeseed
oil (and agave), I really don't know how other ingredients would
work in place of these.

I substituted a few things... pecans and peanut butter to replace
almonds, some coconut flour
works great when short on flaxmeal, no vanila due to allergy and Earth Balance for half of coconut
oil and they are so good they disappear in half a day.
I used
almond oil instead of coconut and it
worked just fine.
Macau - style
almond cookies are traditionally made using lard, but I went the simpler route and, after it
worked well in mooncakes, used coconut
oil instead, another fat that is solid at room temperature.

Almond butter will definitely
work in a Vitamix 750 (I had that model for 5 years before my new Ascent 3500), but as per the instructions above, you need to roast the
almonds first (to release their natural oils) or add additional
oil.
I am adventurous so will try other things in place of those things that might not
work for me... coconut
oil is one of the must tries along with
almond flour instead of the arrowroot....

Hi, It happened to me as well when I tried to make oatmeal cookies, using just oat flour & coconut
oil, I had to throw them away, but when I use mixed flour (
almond, buckwheat and oat flour) it seem to
work just fine — funny..
Similarly, the Marketing Order and Agreement Division oversees marketing orders for
almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, pistachios and spearmint
oil, and is currently
working with the pecan industry as they explore a possible new order.
Hi Amina — you could substitute cashew butter, peanut butter, sunflower butter, etc. but
almond oil won't
work in this recipe.
